3 Easy Wins to Fill Your Chair

(Without the Hustle Culture Burnout)

Let’s be real: you started tattooing, hair, nails, waxing, or whatever keeps you busy because you wanted creative freedom and flexibility, not because you wanted to spend your days digging into business technicalities. Booking user experience? Taxes? Forget all of that. You make people feel like their best selves, and that should be your focus.

As a queer-owned business owner (transplant from Utah to Tacoma, Washington), I know the hustle. I also know you probably don't have a problem with what you’re offering. Rather, you likely have a "people finding you" problem and a "making it so, so simple to book" problem.

While there are endless ways to level up, we all deserve something easier at times. Here are three "easy wins" to level up your digital presence. No jargon, no BS, just tactics that work.

1. Master the "Digital Storefront" (Your Google Business Profile)

We all know Instagram is where you show off your art. But where do your potential clients go to decide if they trust you? Google. If you aren't visible here, you are invisible to high-intent clients actively searching "tattoo artist near me" or "brow waxing Tacoma."

Your "Easy Win":
Claim and optimize your Google Business Profile - also known as Google My Business. This is what can show up on Google Maps and in Google searches.

  • Post Updates: Use the "Posts" feature to announce flash sales, cancellations (same-day appointments!), or new services.

  • Link Your Booking: Make sure your profile has a direct link to book. If a client has to dig for your number, you lose them to the person who has a "Book Now" button.

Bonus Tip: As a digital marketer for almost a decade, this is your permission to recycle content. You took that video or picture once already; use it again. If you wanna go above and beyond, you can optimize the captions for each platform, but start with consistently posting.

2. Have a "Niche" AND a "Moneymaker"

Here is the secret that separates busy artists from booked-out artists: your passion brings them in; your bread-and-butter classics keep the lights on.

Maybe your absolute joy is tattooing frogs in little outfits (we love that), but you know that traditional tattoos pay the bills. Or, maybe you love doing hyper-detailed anime nails (Ghibli or Sailor Moon, anyone?), but the moms that get classy, solid colors are consistent for you. As you establish yourself (and with a bit of intentionality and luck), your Niche can become your Moneymaker. Let’s dive into some of the “intentionality” piece.

Your "Easy Win":

Balance your feed. Dedicate 60% of your posts to your "Moneymaker" (the reliable services that pay the bills) and 40% to your "Niche" (your passion projects).

Why?

Because your people are out there. When you post that weird, wonderful frog tattoo or that intricate Zelda nail set, the algorithm pushes it to super-fans who will travel to book you. Once they are in your chair, they will likely book your moneymaker for maintenance.

3. Stop Posting into the Void - Go Hyper-Local with Ads

Organic content is great, but relying solely on the algorithm is like playing the lottery. If you want to skip the line and get in front of neighbors who are ready to book right now, you need to be intentional.

Your "Easy Win":

Run hyper-targeted Meta Ads (Ads across Facebook, Instagram, and even Threads). Instead of shouting into the void, you can draw a digital fence around Tacoma, Seattle, or wherever you are in the world.

You can show your specific work (your niche frogs, your crisp lines, your brow transformations) exclusively to locals who are searching for beauty and art services. This strategy finds the clients your organic posts and other more grassroots efforts might miss.

If you just want to get something out there, setting up Meta Ads can be simple enough. However, if you want the money you give to Meta to really get your business out there, get more appointments, and save yourself the hassle of learning yet another thing, it’s worth hiring someone.

Ready to Stop Guessing and Start Booking?
